The old drive is not dead!
I think the boot partition was unhappy, but the old drive does seem to be mostly intact. I got a new drive from Dell. I've got Windows and all of my programs installed on the new drive. The old drive is in an enclosure right now, and I bought a 500GB storage solution (it was on sale for $113 over the weekend). I'm presently copying *everything* from the old drive to the new drive. I think it's going to take four or five hours. Yee haw.
